Wowsa!

Second of May 2008.

My, I haven't blogged for, like, EVER.

In the last nine months I have made a website from scratch (http://heartacheandheels.co.uk). I have started work at Number One Cornhill (opposite the Bank of England). I have bought too many clothes. I have ignored my blog. I have welcomed a new cousin into the family. (Irish. Male. And not called Porrick this time either). I have rejected males and had males reject me. More on that to follow... I've started using "^^" as an emote. I've eaten good food and drunken good cocktails. I've travelled. I've done a lot.

What are my upcoming plans?

To finish my website. To continue working my butt off. To buy more clothes (an investment, honest). To write more in my blog. To... welcome any new cousins into my family... To date more. To wean myself off using "^^". To eat and drink. To travel. To do more.

Friday 13th...

I had 'nuvva interview today. What can I say other than: "I'm keeping my fingers crossed"?

Oh - and who on earth invented pyschological interview questions!?!?

The road, train and tube were pretty much empty today - I'm assuming that has something to do with it being Friday the 13th. I think we have two this year; next one is in July or something.

Eh well, not being superstitious or anything, I bet I messed up the interview regardless of the date. ;)

Carry Me Down

Just finished reading Carry Me Down. It was very well written from an eleven-year-old's point of view. He's a child-man, 5'8 or so but seems emotionally obtuse. He's obsessed with finding out people's lies is not adverse to using fibs to get himself out of trouble. In the second half of the book, his parents split up, he has an emotional break down and gets sent to juvie. It was rather bleak but I'm not a big fan of the happily-ever-after ending so I found it a good, though provoking read.

Decided to carry on with my drawing today but splashed a little coffee on it. I got annoyed with myself for doing that.

I think I can use diluted bleach to get it off.

Life is tough sometimes. Sometimes I feel like an utter bitch for things I say and do, or at the very least a grade A nag. Crappy things that happen to you in life are supposed to make you stronger, yes? I logged onto RS today to see if Stewart would be there. He wasn't. I e-mailed Danny. He didn't reply. That's when it struck me; people let you down. I'm not saying this in a bitter way, just musing aloud. Maybe this is me finally growing up. [/end emo drivel]

I'm a bit hesitant to write about this on here, as it seems to have 'jinxed' me in the past, but I might be getting an interview for a job in the next couple of days. It sounds perfect for me.

Off to bed now.

I do blog every month... Honest

Hmm, maybe I should blog more regularly. I've gotten a bit erratic of late.
I met Paul, Sadie and Alyssa on Saturday. 'Twas pretty funny but rather strange indeed. Alyssa is very cute and made us all laugh especially when she started throwing chips in Paul's direction. Joe looked absolutely terrified at the prospect of looking after her for the afternoon. Poor man. Spose I'd better thank him (again) for a great day, even if I did spend the majority of it being absolutely freeezing cold! My fault really. :p
So far today, I've been helping noobs on Guild Wars, battling with error 7's and had to resort to drinking vodka and coke to keep myself entertained. And by 'resort' I mean 'last resort'... honest!
Trip to Prague in five weeks. I really can't wait.
I've also had some plans mentioned to me about Easter and ye olde Stairs Crewe. Should be a barrel of laughs.

-the- Update

I saw a certain somebody over the weekend.
*Smirks.*
More good times.

More artwork too: Elijah Wood, Keira Knightley and a Ms Jolie piece.
Though I haven't finished any of them.

I bought a blending stump today.
And a bottle of jet black India ink.
And a new mech pencil.
And kneadable erasers.
A total of £8.58.

Wentworth Miller

Took me over 30 hours to complete this. :)
...Enjoy?

Don't They Say Something About Three's?

All that moaning about not being able to get a decent permanent job - and then three come along at once. No more temping work for the Doofus.

First offer pays the most. An associate, no less.
Second offer is the most prestigious. A trainee trader position.
Third offer is with Jacquie. An admin assistant.

I can't even flip a coin to decide it. ^^

Friday

Oops. I forgot it was the She-Porrick's birthday last month. Uh-oh. I'm gonna be moaned at when they next come a-visiting.

Chris got his birthday present. Late, I must add. He seemed pretty chuffed, but somehow I don't think he's gonna use it to keep the rain off his head! Lol. Me and Dan got him a pink pen, a British flag and one of those foam tourist hats with bells on that you can pick up from London. Ya - he's American. It was a tongue-in-cheek thing.

Had a blind man come round to tune our piano yesterday. (Yes, we have a piano.) I was a bit hesitant with the idea to begin with, but he was really lovely and his guide dog was gorgeous - really well behaved until he let her out of her harness, then she was jumping around everywhere. By the way, I'm not the pianist - it's my sister who is the musical, um, not-really-a-prodigy.

11 hours so far on Mr Miller. He's coming along nicely but I reckon its gonna take me at least twice that to finish.

And seriously, who cares about Jade Goody!? I mean, we had torrential rain and gale force nine winds yesterday, half the country came to a standstill, ten people died, London Bridge station had its roof ripped off, a ship went down in the Channel and all I'm hearing is; Oooh, BB didn't screen for an hour last night.

PS - Sorry Swampy. I am alive, just lazy.

Happy New Year! (with a bit extra)

A belated Happy New Year to everyone. Old and new friends alike. Even strangers.

Been having "fun" this week, photocopying and paperclipping and filing and pinging staples -accidentally- at my co-workers. They're a nice bunch; I just loathe the three hours travelling I have to do every day. And apologies to the guy whose foot I stood on when going from Bank to London Bridge. Just in case you're reading this. :p

That's about it. Knackered and going to sleep now. Toodles.

Boxing Day

Listening to: Chimaira
Eating: A pen

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas. And if anyone didn't get a visit from Santa you can blame me; I lit a fire on Christmas Eve.

I'm working on a picture of Wentworth Miller at the moment - in Derwent lead rather than chewed Bic as per usual. I've gone and learnt a new technique, so it may take me a while to complete. Hopefully my Mum won't ask where her small kitchen knife has gone...

About to be summoned downstairs. We have the normal Boxing Day 'social gathering'* at our house and I'm supposed to be cooking a Risotto. I figure boiled rice should do the trick nicely. ;)

That's it from me. Happy New Year to all. (Early yet, but I figured I'd set the trend.)

* Yes, I'm sick of the word 'party' already.

P.S. The dog has recovered. I finished my book. Connected?

Monday's Update

Listening to: Ministry
Drinking: Coffee

I have FINALLY finished that Bruce Willis sketch I was wittering on about ages ago. It can be found in the Deviant album, because I posted it up for public viewing in my deviantART account. There's also one of Jude Law that I finished the other day in the same album. Basically, they are the original sketches with an automatic colour contrast filter whacked on, a border and my initials. All proper like.

My dog (Tess, not Max) is ill. Well, not ill. She has something wrong with her back or legs or something. She won't walk or run like normal but just flops about on the floor like a fish out of water. Hardly eats anything either. My Mum has been carrying her around on a beanbag. It's a pretty funny sight. Anyway, I actually got her eating a little last night - then when I tried to pick her up, she feebly ran way from me and up the stairs. I have therefore come to the conclusion that she's faking. Either that or she loathes the very sight of me.

Oh, and I'm currently reading Keith Ablow's Psychopath. Would I be pointing out the obvious if I said it was about a pyschopath? Heh, thought so.

What do Microsoft, Tamaguchis and Egyptian Languages all have in common?

Nothing except for the fact they're all deleted articles from Wikipedia. Maybe because of their pure genius. Or maybe because they're spoofs. Definitely one of the two.

From   Microsoft:   Win·dows   Noun   A thirty-two bit extension and graphical shell to a sixteen-bit patch to an eight-bit operating system originally coded for a four-bit microprocessor which was written by a two-bit company that can't stand one bit of competition.

From   Tamaguchi:   Tamaguchi were these stupid electronic Japanese toys that some American children (mostly retarded) got into in the late nineties. Basically, you have to pet, feed, and tickle a little pixilated japanimation pet and if you neglected it for, like, a few hours, it would die. This is payback for Hiroshima.

From   Egyptian languages:   A dead language that eventually not even Egyptians could read. The end.

"The end" indeed. This is my blog done for today. Gotta love copy/paste. Oh, almost forgot. Here's the requisite clicky linky thing.

My Addiction

Sod that Orange stuff; I've drunk nine and a half litres of Cranberry Juice in the last four days.

Icey cold. Sweet with a sharp after taste. Bliss.

Got one and a half cartons left then I need to go grab some more.

Dunno why I've suddenly developed this obsession with it.

Some List

There's a Feeder song called My Perfect Day. The lyrics go something like; But sometimes I feel it, do you know how it is? You wake up in the morning and everything fits, I'm still hoping tomorrow feels like this, my perfect day...
Well... guess who had a perfect day on Saturday? *Grins.* I am aware that this blog could get ever-so-slightly slushy, so moving quickly on...

What's new I hear people ask? Well, mebbe not...

1) I bought the new Faithless album (To All New Arrivals) and am not sure if I like it or not. Maybe it'll grow on me like Bombs did.
2) I've had more interviews so I'm going through that whole period of keeping my fingers crossed again.
3) Spoke to Ed for the first time in about nine months, eventually working out that I didn't have his number and he didn't have mine. We swapped 'em.
4) Entertained Joe at work.
5a) Downloaded Simon Webbe's 'Grace'.
5b) Downloaded Lifehouse's 'No Name Face'.
5c) Downloaded Soilwork's 'Steelbath Suicide'.
5d) Downloaded... Ok, you get the point... I downloaded a whole lotta albums.
6) Rediscovered toast. No kidding.

'Ere We Go Again

Thousands of job applications, hundreds of phonecalls and tens of job interviews later, I'm still unemployed and, uh, still scrounging off my parents.

Someone start up some wailing violins.

Apparently I'm not enthusiastic enough. Well, what exactly are people looking for? Jim Carrey in disguise? I don't wanna come across as some gormless, grinning maniac thankyouverymuch. Oh, and I'm not experienced enough. Tell me something, how do I get experience when I'm not in work? And how do I get work when I don't have experience? Extract the logic from that.

Enough moaning; I know somewhere there's a job that's right for me. It's just finding it. Plus it's a gorgeous day and the weekend will be here soon. So let's crank up the music and dig out the Armadale from underneath the stairs.

Also, I stumbled across someone's website called Oh My God It Burns, read a little of a particular article and then tried out what they said. Cheap Vodka + Water Filter = Good Quality Vodka. Try it.

Thursday

Just thought I'd scribble a few lines before I head off to bed for the night.

Tomorrow night should be fun - though I shall have to be careful to behave myself. I'm not too good at doing that.

As for my interviews - they went great. Thanks for everyone's concerns and that. My most positive response was from Realty, and I'm going back to see them tomorrow. (Hitting Oxford Street after.) Jacquie said they loved me there.

J M Finn went well too, but their interviews dont finish until tomorrow, so that's when I'll hear from them.

Tuesday

I loathe short, bald men, I really do. The bloke who conducted my interview today was unfortunately both short and bald.

*Sigh.*

He could also be my new boss...

I have an interview with Realty Insurance tomorrow. (I did look up the name after all.) It's situated in Bond Street. My fingers are crossed for this one too.

Enough prattling on about work. I'm tired (didn't get home 'til gone seven), swigging Fosters (I know, I know; lager lout) and contemplating watching a film... Or maybe I should crash out with a book. Or log on to GW. Decisions, decisions.

Life's full of surprises y'know. Last night I quickly logged in to the first MMORPG I ever played, just for old times sake, and guess who I started chatting to? Stewart. It's a small world. He grabbed my e-mail off me, said he'd contact me and we left it at that. Coincedence or what?

Monday

I've started to come up with ideas for building my own computer. Chris is giving me some help with it... good man. :p I've found a full tower case, the PSU and the graphics card I want already. Hopefully I can get rid of this laggy piece of junk I currently call my PC as soon as possible. However, knowing me, by the time I've decided what I want to buy, I'll probably have spent all my money on clothes or CDs or summink.

[Must remember to get the new Trivium CD just to see what all the fuss is about.]

Uh. What else? Carl got me an interview with J M Finn & Co either today or tomorrow - they haven't confirmed either the time or the date yet. *Pulls a face.* I'll presume it's tomorrow. They're a decent company, offering good hours, a good location and a good(ish) position... My Dad said he knows the Managing Director and could pull a few strings for me if I wanted. I refused. If I do get the position, I want to get it on my own merit, rather than because of who I know. Plus, I don't really want to build my hopes of success up 'cos then I might end up more disappointed if I'm not successful.

I've also got another call back on Wednesday - this one was via Jacquie, and this is another good company. Something to do with Private Insurance, though rather typically I can't remember what the company name is. I should look them up but I'm a little distracted with pen and paper at the moment (as well as typing this). I also need to finish some of the sketches I've already started. I seem to begin one, get bored, start a fresh one, get bored again and then leave them untouched for weeks on end. Admittedly, they do take me quite a while - seven hours or so if I'm doing a full A4 from scratch but I still need to complete them at some point.

Maybe things are looking up at last - on the job front anyway. Everything else was going pretty darn well and still is going pretty darn well.

Toothpaste For Dinner

Grattis med dagan, M! (*Is trying to practise the little Norwegian I know more often.*)

Having announced the above to the general public, I'm gonna write a couple of lines about Toothpaste For Dinner. No, not the last resort when you've got family round and the turkey's burnt in the oven. (Which coincedentally happened on Wednesday.) I'm referring to the cartoonist. I love his work, I really do.

Gems from his website include:

fish you have no ambition

And:

every day I read

He puts a new one up everyday. Obviously sometimes they're better than others.

maths jokes are never funny

Anyways, if you're bored, go have a browse. There are plenty to look through in the archive.

That's about all from me. Hope everyone has a great weekend.
